Traffic
FG is committed to enhancing local infrastructure and minimizing traffic impacts on the West Bank during construction and operations of The Sunshine Project and has completed traffic improvement solutions in St. James Parish in coordination with local and state officials.
To minimize impacts to the community, FG voluntarily implemented improvements to a 2.5 mile stretch of Highway 3127, widening it to a four lane highway with two new travel lanes near the site of its planned Sunshine Project. This work included:
- Conducted a local traffic study in 2017, reported results to the Louisiana Department of Transportation in 2018, drafted plans in 2019 and began construction in 2020.
- Voluntarily funded, designed and constructed improvements to a 2.5 mile stretch of Highway 3127, widening it to 4 lanes with 2 new travel lanes.
- Coordinated with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and local law enforcement to implement temporary traffic control measures as necessary for safe and efficient travel.
- Implemented Highway 3127 drainage improvements and upgraded drainage crossings.
- Engaged local contractors and businesses to complete construction work safely and in record time.
- Successfully protected its workforce from COVID-19 through extensive site safety measures, with zero cases during construction.
FG's Highway 3127 Improvements:
FG transferred control of the 2.5 mile portion of Highway 3127 back to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and local law enforcement once improvements were completed. FG continues to work cooperatively with state and parish officials and residents to uphold its commitments, meet community needs and invest locally.
