Think Local
FG LA LLC's Think Local policy is our commitment to hire locally and use local businesses as much as possible during construction and operations of The Sunshine Project.
In FG's agreement with St. James Parish, the State of Louisiana and Louisiana Economic Development, the company agreed to provide customized workforce support through the LED FastStart Program, including assistance with employee recruitment, screening, training development and delivery. It is expected that through this and other programs and processes, FG will be able to identify and hire persons qualified to perform the task(s) of the position(s) for which they are hired. To submit your resumé or application information, visit FG's Louisiana Job Connection page or FG’s contact page.
In addition to hiring qualified individuals, FG’s Think Local policy includes hiring businesses with the following attributes:
- Based in St. James Parish or in Louisiana
- Small
- Disadvantaged
- Minority-owned
- Women-owned
- Veteran-owned
- Certified HUBZone (collectively “diverse”)
For proper consideration, bidders and contractors shall provide local hiring statistics for the past three years and a written plan for hiring local subcontractors, vendors and employees.

FG is working closely with local officials and the community to make residents aware of the types of jobs that will be available and the training and skills required for The Sunshine Project.
To prepare the local workforce for future job opportunities with The Sunshine Project, the FG Workforce Academy will help create a well-trained, productive and safe workforce. We are working with local workforce development officials, River Parishes and Baton Rouge Community Colleges, Louisiana Workforce Commission and Louisiana Economic Development to develop a curriculum that will provide the necessary training and skills required to work at the facility.
We will connect residents with resources to obtain the training, skills or education required to work with The Sunshine Project. FG pledges that local residents who successfully complete the training program at the academy will be given an opportunity to interview for jobs.
The Sunshine Project expects a workforce of more than 8,000 at peak construction. The project's Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor and subcontractors will manage most of the hiring during the construction phase. FG is committed to working with our contractors to ensure hiring qualified local candidates is a priority.
As the project progresses, we will update our website with information about project contractors and construction jobs. Please continue to visit this page for future updates.
